Stafford NJ Police Dispatcher Indicted for Allegedly Selling Drugs

November 10, 2016

A former police dispatcher for the Stafford Police Department has been indicted by an Ocean County grand jury on charges of illegally selling prescription drugs.

The suspect is a 41-year-old woman from Barnegat, New Jersey. She used to work for the Stafford Police Department as a police dispatcher, but she left her job shortly after being placed under arrest and criminally charged in June 2016.

Stafford NJ police officers and federal authorities arrested the suspect during an undercover drug operation known as “Operation Southern Shield.” A total of 19 people were arrested for their alleged involved in a drug distribution network that illegally sold narcotics throughout Ocean County and elsewhere in New Jersey.

The suspect was busted while allegedly selling oxycodone to undercover cops on three occasions in April and May. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect sold the narcotics during her breaks while working as a police dispatcher. Three other people were also arrested for their alleged involvement in the illegal prescription drug sales. The other suspects are from Stafford, Barnegat, and Waretown, respectively.

Now the four suspects have been indicted, which means that they could be facing lengthy terms of incarceration in New Jersey State Prison.

While the very serious criminal charges against the main suspect are pending, she remains free on $10,000 bail. Unless the suspect reaches a plea agreement with Ocean County prosecutors, she will likely have to appear in Ocean County Superior Court at a later date so that she can answer the drug crime charges against her.
