Officials are reporting that a car crash in Jackson has resulted in the death of one person and the injury of four others. The crash occurred at around 6:41 p.m. on South Hope Chapel Road when a 1993 Chevy 1500 truck crashed into a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. The driver of the minivan, a 56-year-old Howell man, had to be extracted by firefighters and was airlifted to a local hospital. A female passenger in the front seat of the minivan was reportedly killed while the backseat passenger was taken to a local hospital to treat injuries.
The driver of the Chevy 1500, a 31-year-old male also had to be partially extracted from the vehicle and airlifted to a local hospital for treatment while his 14-year-old passenger was treated and hospitalized for non-critical injuries.
Initial investigation has lead officials to believe that the driver of the minivan was making a turn onto Ridgeway Boulevard when the crash occurred. The site of the crash is reportedly an unlit intersection without traffic lights or street lights.
Details regarding the crash are scarce as officials have not released the names of those injured or derails related to the crash. Officials state that there is currently no indication of the involvement of drugs or alcohol as a contributing factor.
Few incidents are as tragic as a car accident. Even in the case of the most minor injuries, the results can be devastating. Worst of all, accidents could and should be avoided altogether in most cases. The aftermath of an accident could leave victims with a lost loved one, extraordinarily high medical treatment costs, lost wages, and much, much more.
