Middlesex County man faces DWI charge and more after crash

The consequences of an allegation of drunk driving are not limited simply to the penalties that may follow if a conviction is obtained. The mere charging of the crime of driving under the influence has a way of triggering social reproaches, and they can begin even before any legal action is finalized. It's always important for anyone in New Jersey facing such charges to work with an attorney for the protection of their rights and their futures.

This may well be on the mind of a Laurence Harbor man in connection with a car accident a week ago in Holmdel. Authorities have leveled a charge of driving while intoxicated against the man, along with an array of other charges. The nature of the allegations are such that it seems that this defendant may have previous DUI-related convictions on his record.

Police say the crash occurred Dec. 27 around 10 p.m. on Route 35. Officials allege the man rear-ended a second vehicle and then left the scene. Holmdel authorities say officers eventually caught up to the vehicle suspected in the accident and placed the driver under arrest.

In addition to alleged drunk driving, the man was booked on charges of reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene and failing to report an accident. He has since been released pending a court appearance.

It should be noted that officials confirm that there were no injuries as a result of the collision. There also is no information provided in the media coverage of the arrest indicating what actions police took to support their DUI accusation. Such details could prove important to the proper formation of a viable defense against the allegations being made, making contacting an attorney vital.
